The emergence of Columbus as a center of investment for semiconductors, transportation and clean energy, and finding new ways to train workers for these industries has caught the attention of the Biden administration.
Last week, the administration selected Columbus and four other cities nationwide to serve as hubs meant to fully capitalize on these and other investments being made to help Americans get what it describes as good jobs in these growing sectors.
The selection comes after Intel picked New Albany for a $20 billion semiconductor project, Honda chose Ohio as a hub for its burgeoning electric vehicle operations and a new joint venture called Illuminate USA has committed to investing $220 million in Pataskala for a 1.1 million-square-foot factory making solar panels.
